This spring, Mangul Lab welcomes a new member to our group! Sharon Waymost is joining us as a graduate student working towards her Master of Science degree in Computer Science at UCLA. Sharon first worked with Serghei in Eleazar Eskin’s lab in the Department of Computer Science at UCLA back in 2018, and, with our lab at USC, she will be working on a paper about packaging and containerizing academic software tools as part of her thesis project.

Sharon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Economics, from Columbia University. She has previously worked on projects at AdWords with Google. Personal and family experience with breast cancer motivated Sharon to pursue bioinformatics of genetics and cancer in graduate school, which is what led her to work with Eleazar and Serghei!
